Danish American Football Federation (DAFF) has existed since 1989. DAFF is member of the Sports Confederation of Denmark (DIF) and The Danish Olympic Committee.
DAFF organises both tackle and flag football and has about 4.000 members spread over approx. 70 clubs across the country. American Football in Denmark is growing approx.10% more members every year, and new clubs is regularly shooting up, and the exciting clubs are getting bigger.
The National Championships games in both tackle football (The Mermaid Bowl) and flag football (The Dannebrog Bowl) is approved by the Danish National Sports Confederation and The Danish Olympic Committee. Mermaid Bowl has been played since 1989 and have the last couple of years been shown live on national TV. Dannebrog Bowl has been played since 2004 and has also been shown on national TV the last couple of years.
DAFF offers tackle football in the following five age groups:
U12 (10 teams)
U14 (10 teams)
U16 (25 teams)
U19 (20 teams)
Senior (45 teams)
Flag football is so far only played by seniors (45 teams), and female teams are starting to arise.
DAFF has five national teams: Tackle Football (U17, U19, Senior), Flag Football (Senior Men, Senior Women)
DAFF has four paid employees and office in the House of Sports. The Board consists of six members and meets six to eight times a year.
