The Cameroon American Football Federation recently launched American football in Douala, the coastal and economic capital city of Cameroon.
The event, entitled: " Camer Football Douala 2018" ran from the 15th to the 16th of June was Presided over by the Governor of the Littoral Region (Douala) H. E. Mr. Samuel Ivaha Diboua who was represented by the Secretary General of the region.
The two-day event under the supervision of the President and Chairperson of the Cameroon American Football Federation, Mr. Awasum E.M. (JR), wass marked by activities such as flag football games, demonstrations and workshops.
The event was sponsored by Brasseries of Cameroon and covered by many national media partners, including Cameroon Radio Television (CRTV), Équinoxe Radio & TV, Canal 2 International, Veritas Television, Radio Sports Info (RSI), FM 105, Douala, and Football Africa.
The purpose of the event was to promote and development strategies for the growth of American football in the Littoral region.
Significantly, 10 high schools in Douala were selected for introduction of American football in their athletic programs with a view to eventually provide the athletes in the region to a team so as to participate in the upcoming Championships and Cup of Cameroon festivities.
