The international game of American Football is gaining a strong footing in India with efforts to promote the sport in the country are slowly bearing fruits
In its latest initiative of strengthening the sport and promoting it high and deep, the American Football Federation of India (AFFI), in collaboration with the Karnataka Flag and American Football Association (KFAFA), conducted a two-day clinic for coaches and referees from across the country.
American Football Federation of India (AFFI), a certified body affiliated to International Federation of American Football (IFAF) for the first time ever, organized ‘Level 1 Coach/Referee Clinic’. The two-day clinic was conducted on the 18th and 19th of May at Nagarjuna Degree College campus, Yelhankha, Bangalore, Karnataka.
A total of 29 coaches and referees from across nine States (Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Odisha) and two Union Territories (Pondicherry & Chandigarh) participated in the clinic.
The clinic was ceremoniously inaugurated by Dr.Bhavani M.R (Principal, Nagarjuna Degree College), Prof.Rajanna R (Physical Director, Nagarjuna Degree College), Dr. Sandeep Chaudhari (CEO, AFFI), Praveen Kumar Reddy (Technical Director, AFFI).
A specialist team of four, comprising educator Praveen Kumar Reddy (Technical Director, AFFI), Satish M Gowda, President, KFAFA, Mohd. Sibgathulla (Secretary, KFAFA), and Dr. P. Mohd. Ilyas (Member, KFAFA) instructed the group of 29 coaches and referees with the latest advancements of the sport through focused indoor and classroom-based sessions.
All the participants were awarded with acknowledgement and appreciation certificates on the successful completion of the clinic, supervised and presided by Dr. Sandeep Chaudhari, CEO, American Football Federation of India (AFFI).
